Getting Started

Oswegocountygovernments.com was created so that the people of Oswego County can learn more about how their Governments work and who currently occupies these positions. In order to make this user friendly, this starting point should help enable you to navigate this site. If you click the municipality where you live municipalitites (or a link for the whole county map too), then all of your elected officials will then be at your finger tips, along with web pages and maps for some of them.

There are four main levels of Government: Local (Cities, Towns & Villages), County, State and National.

Local Governments

Cities

The functions of the Cities of New York State is described here: City Functions

Towns

Note, all the Villages are also part of the Town where they are located.

The Village of Altmar has voted to dissolve itself. At the end of this year, the Town of Albion will take over all of the municipal responsibilities.
