Henry A. Wise

43rd District (Jefferson, Lewis and Oswego counties)

Henry A. Wise, Republican, was born at Watertown, August 21, 1906. He is a graduate (B.A. with distinction) of the Virginia Military Institute and the University of Virginia where he won a Phi Beta Kappa key and a law degree cum laude. He served in the army in World War II.

Mr. Wise is engaged in the practice of law at Watertown with offices at 204-205 National Bank Building, Watertown. He served from 1940 to 1958 as chairman of the Jefferson County Republican Committee, except for the war years.

Elected to the State Senate in 1947 to fill an unexpired term, he was re-elected in the 1948 general election and each successive Senatorial election. He serves as a member of the Commission on Coordination of State Activities and was chairman of its subcommittee on Public Welfare. He has served and is serving on several joint legislative committees and was chairman of one of them.

He is married and has four children.
